Any Given Tuesday: Wild-Card Playoff Recap

Welp, what a way to start the NFL Playoffs, eh? 4 blowouts and 1 decent game all because of a rookie quarterback (Jayden Daniels) and Baker Mayfield not giving up when either of them went down or had a detrimental play. I never watched 4 playoff games where all the losing teams gave up after one, terribly awful play. The Chargers were up to start the game, but once Herbert threw that 1st pick, the Chargers cord broke, they had 0 energy and no faith in winning the game anymore. Herbert ended up throwing 3 more interceptions and never gained an ounce of momentum back. Game ends 32-12 with The Texans barely doing anything. To the night game we go, Ravens v.s Steelers, this game took 4 hours to watch, but I swear to Christ, it took at least 3 days. Slow methodical drive after drive by the Ravens with the Steelers defense refusing to contain Lamar or stop the run, which can be great games, unless the other team is the conservative ass Steelers, who will still run the ball on 3rd and 20, in the 4th quarter down by 14. Mike Tomlin is a great coach but god, the guy can not change a gameplan on the go, if his game plan isn’t working, than the Steelers simply just lose, it's why they have incredible success during the regular season. Tomlins gameplanning is better than the majority, but in the playoffs, especially against Harbough, you can't rely on a single game plan, you have to be able to adapt on the fly, which they couldn’t and got blown out in the most boring playoff game of the week.

“Congrats Tomlin, you did good not throwing the ball, dumb ass. 20/29, 270 why are we still running the ball”, is what I'm assuming Wilson was thinking all throughout that game.

Any given Sunday time, or how it should be better classified as dumpster fire Sunday, because what the hell did I spend 8 hours watching. The Broncos game was like watching a team pray for something stupid to happen so they could just give up. I don’t understand how you can drive the full field in 7 plays in the first drive, score a touchdown, and then just give up because Will Lutz missed a chip shot field goal. That's what happened, the Broncos had 0 momentum or even felt like they were trying after that missed field goal, it's like they were looking for an excuse to lose. It was like watching the highschool football team play against the elementary schools flag football team, nothing was being stopped, no one could do anything, and just had to watch the tiny poor little Broncos be beat up by the asshole jock Bills. Which brings me to the one game I thought would be a shootout, those thoughts were delusional, I should have known. Jordan Love, one of the most hyped up young Qbs in the league, that you don't dare say is overrated, went on to throw for 3 interceptions and 0 tds whilst losing 22-10. 22-10 is not even a blowout, the Packers had so many opportunities to win this game, and simply chose not to. They made no halftime adjustments, it was like playing Madden against a guy who runs chew clock the whole game, annoying, boring and for some reason unstoppable. The Packers and Broncos both just decided to crawl up in a ball and die at the first sight of adversity. Onto the final game of Sunday:

THANK GOD FOR THE ROOKIE, BAKER, AND OLD ASS BOBBY WAGNER!!

Scary Terry and a old man

Although the first 3 quarters of this game were arguably boring, that 4th quarter is what ANY GIVEN SUNDAY is all about. Multiple possession changes, multiple conversions, turnovers, grit, and a game winning field goal to end it all. One team was devastated after working their ass off just to lose. The other team now even more motivated, because they were just in a dogfight to win and can’t let that determination go to waste. Overall though, this game saved me from, ill quote Luke Wilson here “blowing my head off”, after the 4 horrible games, we finally got a proper football game. Then what happens?

Monday rolls its ugly self around the corner, and it looks like Sam Darnold. This ginger ass is ready to put me back into a pit of depression, with a performance so bad that it looked like 2018 Darnold had a baby with Brock Osiweiler, and tonight was the baby. Like god almighty, I don't think I've ever watched someone so scared and afraid of a big game as him last night. Every throw behind the receiver, his pocket awareness was not there, and he kept taking pointless sacks instead of throwing the ball away. I think watching Dranold take a 15 yard sack on 4th down with a min left in the half, on your own 50 was one of the worst things I've ever witnessed as a fan of football. Anything, even an interception, is better than a sack which turns the ball over on downs, on your own 40 yard line, you just practically gift wrapped another score and all the momentum to the Rams going into half. I hate to be harsh, because it was Darnolds first playoff game, but damn I’ve never watched a football game where the QB is the only reason why the team is not scoring, plenty of times Darnold missed wide open receivers, and plenty of times his receivers saved his ass by catching the ball behind them, and if it wasn't for the defense continuing to play gritty, the Vikings would have lost by 63. Darnold is young though and will be able to learn from this experience, just sucks as a football fan having to watch not 1, 2, 3, but 4 god awful playoff games and the one good game was the game the media said no one cared about.

Therefore, thank you Washington and the Bucs for saving my mental health this weekend, and for stopping the 5/5 shit playoff games. Now it's just time to wait and pray for a better weekend for the divisional games, maybe Houston will upset the Chiefs, but let's be real, with how much meddling the refs have already done this playoffs, you never know what's gonna get called do you?
